This was written initially on a piece of Marymount Convent School (My primary school), in the afternoon when I had this STRONG desire to blog and I had no access to any computer! :
It had just stopped raining. The sun was shining brightly and its rays were extending beyond the white fluffy clouds that were trying desperately to cover it. I peered out the glass window from the second storey of the Ang Mo Kio Library.
(PS: I was there because I thought the whole world would be at Bishan library since it recently opened, last Friday, and incidentally, I was there. The following day, Saturday, 2nd of September, I was thinking of checking out the library properly with my friend. Well, guess what, it felt like the residents of Bishan had never been to a library before. It was PACKED like SARDINES IN A TIN CAN! I was exasperated, there were no seats, no floor space to even sit on as a last resort. A phenomenal sight that I have never experienced, people were actually queuing up to borrow books! Whats up with that! But the main point is the Ang Mo Kio Library was as packed, and I had to resort to floor space, and I sat next to a plant! YAY, until finally two Indian women finally decided to take their bags which they left there to occupy the two seats.)
As I was peering out of the glass window,… The trees were swaying in the wind. They were one and the fluidity in their dance just seemed really harmonious and breathtaking, (okay, I think I am going crazy, it is just trees in the wind!?) This fluidity seemed to put me in a more calm and serene state. I just started studying for prelim, ten minutes ago, well well, and I was overwhelmed by a few questions on Chemistry as I realized I could not do majority of the questions that I attempted. And the questions that I did managed to do, required me to flip my guidebook fervently, scrutinizing the words to look for the blasted answer. To demoralize myself further, being really sadistic, I remind and tell myself that this is only the MCQ section. I feel faint and a bit nauseous, but as I looked out the window, it somehow reminded me of school. How queer, but yes it did. And it reminded me of our society.
"After the sun the rain, after the rain the sun." Before I reached the library, it was bright and sunny, somehow it started raining just as I stepped into the library. The trees were "full of shapes", sizes and the different colours of leaves and trunks. It is like our multi-racial society, co-existing harmoniously together. Yes, no doubt we compete with each other for light, water and nutrients, we eventually enjoy life together, just swaying in the wind. Unity in diversity; regardless of race, language or religion, all of us are working towards one goal, to do well for our O's and exams, and well, get promoted in their working professions. This is the factor that is pushing me on, that I know others are pressing on, and if they can do it, so can it.
So, dear classmates hang in there. In no time, Class of 2006, SCGS, will be graduating with wide smiles on our faces, with "eye offending brine", as we cling onto any remnant (remnant of style and fruit stalk, Shan! You and your wonderful scanning ability, it is stuck in my head now!) of our secondary school life because it is going to be over in a moment. We know that the past two years would be memories that we keep close to our hearts. As for now, do your best to cherish your time left in SCGS. Stay healthy and PUSH YOURSELF.
PS: if you do not know me well enough yet, I shall let you have the surface of Majella, she is one who preaches A LOT but cannot practice what she preaches. YAY, a quote. I am trying to incorporate quotes in, to sound as cheem as the rest, with thought-provoking quotes. Haha, hope I am achieving my 'goal'.
Love, MAJELLA (with no flagella) :DD
