Dramafest 2006 is finally over.
I won't deny that I'm disappointed and sad with some of the results, but at the same time I'm really REALLY happy.
So we didn't win "Play of the Year" as we were hoping we would, or sweep every single award there was except for merit, 2nd and 1st runner up (that would just have been plain mean). We came in 2nd; 1st runner up behind 4SE. I know we're all pretty down about not winning for best play, but hey! just think of all those awards that we did win.
BEST DISPLAY BOARD - LL was born to do this stuff, I tell you. When I came back to school after going home and saw our beautiful display board, it was...You know those "wow" moments? Yup, it was one of those.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR - Jean! Rock on man! I love my Dao Yan! Haha. After all the amazing effort she's put in, trying to be disgusting and 'se' (that's pronounced as chinese pin yin, NOT the name of the winning class! OI!), enduring crushed toes under Joan's heels, having to stare at my very ugly butt and look like she's actually sexually aroused by it - I am SO sure this was the hardest part of her role, okay - she totally deserved to win it. Jean, ni de niang must be so proud of you! ME TOO!
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - Wah, when they announced Joan's name, I nearly saw the other classes collapse. After our winning 3 consecutive awards (sans best costuming), they probably thought they might as well pack up and go home already. HAHA. Joan, you've been a great enemy, and I really loved doing our bitch scenes (I'm very sorry, and I dont mean to use vulgarities, but honestly, what other word can describe those scenes as well as this?)! Getting slapped by you was the best - especially last night's slap which left my ear stinging and my face nearly swollen. You are SO good. I am so so so happy for you because like Jean, you deserve every single bit of that award. I'm proud of you and I do think you're one of the most talented people I've ever come across - you can sing (chinese talentime), act (dramafest is proof enough), recite shakespeare (lit oratory)...'fess up! Is there ANYTHING you aren't good at? Like maybe just a leeetle beeet?
PLAY OF THE YEAR 1ST RUNNER UP - I'm sure everyone in our class was praying that they wouldn't hear our name being called here. I could nearly swear that Lorraine was in denial when they did. But thank goodness she recovered in time to go down and collect the award, haha. Well, I think what's most important is really the process of all those rehearsals and meetings that have helped us bond so well as a class, to realise each other's faults, but more importantly each other's merits which more than overwrite any faults we may have. We know we tried our best and were super good up there on stage, and that's what matters! Okay, so maybe I sound kinda hypocritical, because as much as we all may say "aiyah, it's okay la. We don't mind. At least we tried our best!", the truth is, who really doesn't mind? It's just nice to sound humble and sweet, you know. But fellow 4GY-ians, let's not dwell too much on the unhappy and more on the happy, and be thankful that we came in 2nd, okay? You guys are the best! And you know it!
Congrats, 4GY, for a job well done. I love you all for putting in so much effort! Our crew was really the greatest (10 seconds ONLY! Haha) and would've won 'Best Crew' and 'Best Script' if there was such an award. Lorraine is OUR best director and our play is THE play of the year to me! Now it's time for us to sit back, relax (nice way of saying 'sleep') and worry about the looming O levels without doing anything about it.
Okay. I didn't mean that. Study hard, GY!
But let's take a break first. I'm tired.
