In about 24 hours, we will be receiving the results of Dramafest. HOW SCARY IS THAT.
Remember right at the beginning of Dramafest, we were nowhere at all. Our scriptwriting was a mess, we barely had the time to meet and any attempts resulted in 2 or 3 lines out of the entire play. Hours were wasted just getting the basic story right, because we were brimming with ideas, and everyone wanted their's in the play. Casting was a nightmare, because we couldn't find a small boy (now very nicely played by Alina!), and everyone voted for the people we didn't want to vote for.
It was so long ago. When we went into the semi-finals we were confident that we would get in, yet during flag raising when the results were announced, the entire class was so tightly wound up, holding hands, burying their heads into hands, whispering, shaking.
So we have made it to the finals. Means we're the TOP FOUR man! We have worked hard. Some definitely harder than others. But it's still a class effort. It's good to see that now towards The Day that people are actually willing to sacrifice time and recess to rehearse. Thanks a lot to all who did and will continue to do so.
I've spent (2) nights thinking about Dramafest, what could possibly go wrong the next day, what we haven't practised, but I can safely say that tonight I will be sleeping soundly because
a) I know we're all right,
b) I'm damn tired after all the work today, and
c) I can't afford to fall asleep while holding the backdrop.
Thanks to everyone who has done their bit. Only problem is, tomorrow night, we can't just do a bit. We have to give it our all. Until now I haven't really thought about winning anything, because I think we all came into this for the experience, not for the prizes. We might win, but it wouldn't be important. And there would be the problem of melting the trophy into 34 pieces, one for each of us.
We will all heave a sigh of relief when it's finally over, (not for Chia Wen, who has to bring the table back to the function room!). Back to our usual classroom cleanliness, our non-worrying/stressed selves, handing homework not so off deadline kinda people. But then we would still remember this time, just as a mental note never to do this kind of killer play ever again, or as something we did together, for the last few opportunities that we have as a class.
I've run out of cliched phrases like "let's do it!" or "make ourselves proud!" or "all the best!". So nothing to say lor. Remember to come to school tomorrow please.
