heyyy, 4gy!
okay...so this is the first time im posting a real post. anyway, i got home today and i just had a sudden urge to come visit our blog, to see how our class has progressed since this account was set up. maybe to check if it's dead.
we went from being cliques to a class, from merely tolerating each other's presence to accepting each other's uniqueness. maybe not yet fully, but we are starting to see that the world really is made up of very different people.
we're like a jigsaw puzzle, we complete each other. reminiscing about digimon days and thinking we'll be the most depressed people when we had to leave one another, which is a state i really can't describe in words.
maybe we've all grown up and moved on. maybe that's it.
is it just me or does everything that happened seem so distant already? i feel so detached from life and living, like it was a long time ago when everything happened. even sports day and NAPFA feels so distant from me, it doesn't feel like it happened just so recently, even though we all know the gruesome and gruelling physical test took place this afternoon.
hmm, or maybe my brain's just failing on me because this week's been a pretty screwed up one for me and i'm feeling incredibly tired. nobody said life was going to be easy, and i wish i could just lie on a soft bed with down pillows listening to music blasting away and just die in peace, but while we live we live lifes of perpetual motion. the only constant in life is change, they say, and the key, i suppose, lies in the fact that we are fervent outwardly, and peaceful within.
geography, people! there's a calm eye in the tornado, there's a sweet surrender to the end of day. i only hope we don't fly in circles, that ultimately we fulfil the purpose of our high calling, and the fear of failing is quite depressing
the fact that i miss the class suddenly makes it even worse. what's happening to everyone? how's everyone?
things in class have been really different, i think everyone can tell. maybe this is what a true class is meant to be like. maybe what we experienced in the previous twelve months isn't and shouldn't technically be called a class. it was more like a different bunches of bananas sticking with one another, BUT BUT BUT NOW we're going to be moving in one huge mob, tearing down the lecture theatre, AVA, classrooms, canteen and khoo audi.
oh yes, and the singapore indoor stadium when we show up for the hollaback.
(maybe not yet, but it's a prophecy for the rest of the year. have faith, mates)
we'll keep doing such things, because GY will always be so welcoming and full of love. we may not feel it sometimes, when we're preoccupied with ourselves and the troubles and ORDEALS we face, like getting up in school on monday
with jessica as an exception
so i shall not talk about the chinese mock essays, both of which i ran out of time! because it's depressing to do so! when laoshi said pens down, i was not even happy, in fact i was VERY HUNGRY (in fact, im going to find some food right after i publish this post) HAHA and to my surprise and elation, that was the exact reaction of so many others too!
let's remember to pray and cast out the devil and calories from the food. don't want to overload on adipose tissue =) anyway, was terribly moody throughout the day, just felt like eating and eating, it's such a great relief that good friday is here. well, what will be will be, i can't change the facts, so maybe i will be very sad when i get back my results, in fact quite definitely, but they don't matter now at least!
and a random thought, i don't drop a single strand of hair during the stressful periods of my life, and it's always after that i lose thousands. there must be something wrong with my hair follicles -.-" and if that's not bad enough, my steroids are causing me insomnia night after night.
even after hours of tossing and turning, i still can't enter lalaland! and then i'll get strange dreams about test tubes, helicopters landing in our classroom and red dinosaurs eating shan squared. okay that was a slight diversion to lighten the mood =)
started thinking...which is some times a bad thing...since we've heard so much about setting goals, realising your values. exactly what everyone is finding: aims in life, to know what we are studying for. why study, why put in so much effort, why must we strive so hard to get a perfect 6 points?
then there'll always be some idiots and morons who may tell you, oh because you have to, in order to survive in the workforce. you must compete, you must strive to be the top dog, the winner of the rat race (and for those who don't know, the first in the rat race remain a rat). you must move fast, fight fight fight, stress stress stress, look out behind you, look out to your sides. don't trust. but why? at the expense of what?
so in order to get high salary, you work super duper hard, so what if you are a millionaire by age of 30 but forsake your friends for your goals? dump your work upon your friends because of an upcoming test you think they don't have to face?
never get to spend quality time with your family, watch your children (i remember nat wants kids) grow up? are you going to be really happy? what do you want so much money for, anyway? is it not to exchange the specially processed bark or whatever natural materials paper notes are made of for the things you think would make you happy?
and so i don't want to look back when im 40, and realise that i have never been truly happy, that i have not accomplished anything, nor made any difference to people's lives. they say we'll look back upon our lives and decide that these are the golden years of our lives, the ones we treasure the most in our hearts. so let's make the most of it, let's enjoy every moment, and bask in the glory days of youth and vigour
and yes, isn't life all about relationships? that's why we keep trying. it's not an image we're projecting when people ask us if we love our class, if we love our lives, if we find ourselves united. balancing school work, CCA, family and friends all at the same time. no doubt it's difficult, but at least we won't have regrets next time. let's not forget that time has the ability to heal...and to hurt
but back to the ordeals bit. back to the reason why we're in slums and slumbering and feeling suicidal despite the fact the problem should only be situation and not internal. maybe that's because we've forgotten to look around and see the rest of the class. i say to you, HOLD ON, don't give up, im still praying for you, and i know im not the only one who cares
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE!
i know there's always somebody out there ready to lend a helping hand, or give a comforting word. there's somebody out there who notices the cuts on the arms are not caused by falls on bicycles, somebody who will scribble you barely legible letters despite a test she hasn't prepared for the next day, somebody who'll sing with you at the sports stadium and pretend your singing isn't as bad as you know it is
somebody who will sacrifice her pride to help you snap a few pictures of that good looking angel across the field. there's always somebody who'll sit beside you on the bench near the CCA rooms past evening till you're ready to continue on with life, somebody who'll offer to be your hearing aid till a miracle happens
somebody who'll bring food for you during break so you don't die of starvation when you're broke, somebody who'll offer her arm for you to chew on in your angst, somebody who's willing to travel with you 45 minutes on the 960 and then another 30 on a feeder bus to ensure you reach home safely when you've a sprained ankle
to all of you i say, thank you, thank you so very much
and that makes everything more meaningful. you don't have to say everything out, sometimes a little silence can be beautiful. you can never really lose a friend because she'll always be there in your memories, and i thank God for the many worthy friends in our class
haha and having a close pal who is so similar to you is great. though when something happen, our reaction to the situation will be the same (which might be a bad thing, an obstacle) haha i don't know as well. maybe if you put two stubborn cows together, i will know why. but it's great, i still can recall whatever 4dg 2005 did in secondary school, really memorable, tough at times but sweet overall.
and every year will be glorious than the one before it.
so i thank God for drama fest and anything else thrown our way, they're just means by which we'll prove ourselves, by which we'll demostrate our GY spirit. just amazed by God's plan, maybe at some points He seem to suggest that this is not the way, but time shows otherwise. it's just a matter of leaving things in His hands, and things will find the way. so strange but true, it's not determination or stubborness, it's love.
2006 IS THE YEAR OF "HEAVEN ON EARTH"
and we don't have to do anything to make it happen, just watch, just proclaim it, just do nothing to obstacle it. we just got to look beyond what we see in our heads through our eyes into what is reality. and the reailty of GY is you put 100% trust in some friendships, and these friends never fail to make you feel great.
my point is this is a great class
and sarah misses everybody so much
